New York Rangers forward Derek Boogaard was apparently found dead in his apartment in Minneapolis today.
The 202nd overall pick in the 2001 by the Minnesota Wild was 28.
Nicknamed the "Boogey Man" for his massive size and ferocious fighting ability, he played 277 NHL games with the Wild and Rangers, scoring 3 goals and 16 points with 589 penalty minutes.
He signed with the Rangers last summer as a free agent and played just 22 games with them.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Boogaard's family.
You can read the official team statement about his passing here.
RIP, Derek.
